I had to write a fanfic for a class. So… I used FFXIV.

Lilea’s jade green eyes scanned the horizon and a gentle breeze swept softly across her High Allagan Robe and caused her soft pink hair to float momentarily in the air before resting again at her shoulders. As the small airship landed just outside of Revenant’s Toll, she wondered what Minfilia had summoned her to The Rising Stones for this time. Her thoughts drifted to the past trials she had undertaken; the conflict with the Garlean Empire, the Beast Tribes summoning their Primal gods, the dark and mysterious Ascians… what could be threatening Eorzea this time? Her thoughts became focused on the present again as she felt the natural road become cobblestone underfoot and her eyes met with the faces of all peoples that gathered here in Revenant’s Toll. She smiled to herself and relaxed as she took in the sights around her. This small city that was once nothing more than a camp situated around the Aetheryte continued to grow every time she returned. This was all thanks to the many that left their homes in the 3 greater nations of Gridania, Ul’Dah, and Limsa Lominsa. Then she should not forget to mention refugees from the fallen nations of Ala Mhigo and Doma, and even the isolated kingdom of Ishgard. Lilea always felt at home here, and soon she found herself at the doorstep of The Rising Stones; the closest thing to a residence she has in this growing city.

With a hearty push on the heavy wooden door, Lilea entered the front end of The Rising Stones, which was set up as a tavern. She had always thought this to be a clever idea, as her keen ears tuned into several different conversations. All sorts of information hung in the air for discerning ears to pick up on as the patrons drank, talked, drank more, and talked more. Lilea casually made her way to the back of the tavern and through another door at the back. This door opened to a stone stairway leading downward to the private part of The Rising Stones known as The Solar. This was the headquarters for The Scions of the Seventh Dawn and their leader: The Antecedent Minfilia. Lilea entered The Antecedent’s Chamber, where her allies had already been gathered.

“Ah, Lilea, I thank you for traveling so far on such short notice. It is ever good to see you.” Minfilia’s soft and cheerful voice welcomed her, as always.

Lilea smiled in return and briefly studied her longtime friend as she approached Minfilia’s desk. Lilea first glanced upward above the desk, where there hung a case which contained the remnants of a broken staff once held by their former leader and mentor Louisoix. Her jade eyes looked back down to Minfilia’s blonde hair, pulled back from her face, apart from her bangs, which fell gracefully along the right side of her face. Minfilia stood up, revealing her lightly armored burgundy leggings and leather thighboots, all partially covered by a thick, protective dress made of a durable, yet light, material. She stepped out from behind the desk and spread her arms out before her in a welcoming motion and held them there waiting to embrace her dear friend. Lilea stepped in closer, mimicking the gesture and wrapped her friend in her arms and hugged her tightly.

“It is so good to see you as well Minfilia.” Lilea echoed with a sigh of content as she held her friend close a moment longer. They eventually separated and Lilea took her place on the opposite side of the desk again. “Now… tell me… is aught amiss?”

Minfilia nodded and her expression turned somber. “Indeed. As you know, the newly formed militia here in Mor Dhona, The Crystal Braves, has been receiving aid from our sister nations: Gridania, Lima Lominsa, Ul’Dah, and Ishgard. However, supply caravans from Ishgard have been attacked of late. However, while supplies missing have varied, the brigands’ objective appears to be stealing crystals.”

“Crystals…!” Lilea’s eyes widened as she recalled her encounters with the Beast Tribes. “Gods, do you think they mean to summon a primal?!”

“We cannot say…” Minfilia closed her light blue eyes in thought before again looking at Lilea. “The intelligence we have gathered suggests to us that these report to a single leader. A woman… known as Iceheart. Her followers revere her with a peculiar mix of fear and adulation. It seems the stolen crystals are presented to her. What she intends to do with them, we do not know…”

Lilea turned for the door. “I will leave for Ishgard immediately, then.”

“But you’ve only just returned! Please, Lilea, I have more to tell you.” Minfilia stood up from the desk again to walk with Lilea. “I intend to accompany you this time. Something about this is… different… strange… I just… cannot let you go alone.”

This made Lilea put her hands squarely upon Minflia’s shoulders and gaze purposefully into her eyes. “Min, no… the thought of you in danger is…” Lilea thought quickly about how to change Minfilia’s mind. “If you do not want me to go alone, I will send for Eosrede. Please, do not worry me.” She forced a smile, hoping to convince her friend to stay.

“While I will not refuse any assistance, I will not change my decision.” Minfilia’s tone was firm, but then softened again. “I wish to help you for once Lilea. You have been our champion time and time again.” She looked to the floor for a few moments, then back to Lilea. “Besides, I am the Antecedent of the Scions. Thus, I will accompany you. I have decided.” Minfilia’s expression turned to a smirk now and she made her way back to her desk. “I will begin preparations anon. I trust you will too.”

Lilea smiled and sighed, comforted by Minfilia’s confidence. She started back to the stairs she entered from. “I am sending for Eosrede. Let us meet at the chocobo stables tomorrow when the sun is high.” She called back as she came to the door, glanced back one more time, and left The Solar.

After exiting The Rising Stones, Lilea made her way across the road to the Post-Moogle Delivery Service.

The Post-Moogle spun joyfully in the air at the sight of her approaching and exclaimed, “Kupo! How may I serve you!?”

Lilea giggled slightly, always finding the small yet cheerful moogles to be nothing short of entertaining and comforting. She borrowed a quill and parchment and wrote a letter to Eosrede:

Hail, friend!

I received summons to The Rising Stones. Minfilia has informed me of attacks against supply caravans from Ishgard meant for the Crystal Braves. Among the cargo stolen, crystals are most prominent. As we know this is similar to the tactics the Beast Tribes employed when they sought to summon their Primal Lords. However, this time the attackers are not Beasts, but humans serving a strange woman, called Iceheart. We have been unable to determine what she wishes for the crystals thus far. I mean to travel to Ishgard as soon as I can. However, Minfilia insists upon joining me. Because of this, I pray you will join me as well. This situation is strange as is, but with Minfilia along, your capable skills would be a blessing. Please, journey to Revenant’s Toll as soon as you are able.

I hope to see you soon, old friend.

“Please, kind moogle, deliver this letter to Eosrede Romana.” Lilea sealed the letter and placed it in the Post-Moogle’s satchel.

“Right away, Kupopo! Kupo!” The moogle scarcely finished before flying off as dusk fell on Revenant’s Toll.

A cold wind blew down from the highlands of Coerthas and Lilea took another long look toward the horizon, the snow-covered peaks of Ishgard looming in the distance…
